Murray Supply Company Hosts Maintenance Tradeshow
Winston-Salem, N.C. based plumbing supply company; Murray Supply Company sponsored a “Maintenance in the Know” tradeshow for the Upper State South Carolina territory maintenance supervisors and technicians on September 29, 2011 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Thus began the closing and formation documents that brought to closure the legal merger of Mechanical Contractors of NC and Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of NC. After years of consideration, months of deep and meaningful discussions between the Boards of Directors, unanimous approval by all votes cast on the part of both memberships, and a multitude of man hours spent drafting, developing, completing and filing the required legal documentation, Rodney Pressley, Current and Last President of MC of NC, and Charlie Oxford, Current and Last President of PHCC-NC signed their names and the North Carolina Plumbing and Mechanical Association was sealed into existence. Ferguson’s Raleigh Counter Announces Reopening
“Wow” will be what customers are saying over and over again when they enter the newly-renovated Raleigh, N.C., branch, which is reopening on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at its original location at 2700 Yonkers Road. After a spring tornado virtually destroyed the location, the renovations to the counter are complete and it is ready for business. The showroom will reopen in early 2012. At the NE Chapter meeting on November 3rd, State Contractor Licensing Board Chairman, Keith Whittington, spoke about the current issues facing the Contractor Licensing Board including violation enforcement, bidding requirements, working with general contractors on sub contracting licenses and other issues. Albany Winnelson Receives Lily Pad Award from Home Builders Association of Albany and South West Georgia
Home Builders Association of Albany and South West Georgia was very honored to recognize Albany Winnelson with the Lily Pad Award. HBA of Albany & SWGA built a home and will sell it and donate all the proceeds of the new home to the Lily Pad, which is an organization and housing facility that provides compassionate, comprehensive care to sexual assault and child abuse victims and their families. When Albany Winnelson heard about this project they wanted to provide help in any way possible and was able to provide all the plumbing supplies to the new home that was built and for doing so, Albany Winnelson received the Lily Pad Award.

The North Carolina Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinklers Contractors (BOE) spoke to over 30 local contractors and industry representatives at the regular meeting of the Charlotte Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association (CPHCCA) on October 11, 2011. The dinner meeting was held in conjunction with Central Piedmont Community College and held at the CPCC’s Harper Campus. Attendance and dinner were free and provided by the CPHCCA. Dale Dawson, executive director of the N.C. Board of Examiners was the keynote speaker and presented a comprehensive, informative program on a variety of subjects. John Todaro, senior administrative officer, accompanied him and assisted in answering questions.

On Friday September 9, 2011, the 39th Annual Plumbers Invitational Golf Tournament was held at Hejaz Shrine Golf Club, located at 200 Ranch Rd in Mauldin, SC. Attendees checked-in between 9:30 and 10:30am and the shotgun start was at 11am. 135 people participated with 34 teams. Everyone who attended the event received a goody bag as they arrived and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last place winners received trophies. 1st place winners included David Mason, Temple Roane, Matt Hensley, and Clint Hughes. This year the golf outing had 25 players, who were representing 17 different businesses, teeing it up on September 16th at Pine Creek Golf course in Mt. Juliet, TN. The event attendees began the afternoon with lunch and then enjoyed an afternoon of shooting clays. Georgia State Inspectors Hold Annual Convention
The 47th Annual Convention and School of Instruction was recently held at Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island, Georgia. It was a week filled with education, great food and fellowship. Our Exhibitors had the best show ever. We had so many new exhibitors from all over the United States so everyone made many new friends and learned many new things. We began with the “Weiner Roast” and “get acquainted” time on Sunday evening. Monday was filled with a Big Breakfast followed by Brown Bag lunch. We ended the day with the usual Low Country Boil put on by none other than our very own,Gayle Ross & Johnny Cole.

GF Piping Systems Opens Atlanta Facility
GF Piping Systems announced today opening of its new warehouse and distribution facility in Atlanta, Georgia. The new 60,000 square-foot logistics center has space for a large product inventory, a sales department as well as a customer reception and specialist-training areas. The plant was opened to shorten lead times and provide better customer service in the region, putting muscle behind the company’s corporate mantra of “We Act Fast” while underscoring the company’s commitment to its customers in the US market. With GF Piping System’s North American headquarters in Tustin, California, goods sent from Europe by ship have been unloaded n Los Angeles until now.
