The 47th Annual Convention and School of Instruction was recently held at Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island, Georgia. It was a week filled with education, great food and fellowship. Our Exhibitors had the best show ever. We had so many new exhibitors from all over the United States so everyone made many new friends and learned many new things. We began with the “Weiner Roast” and “get acquainted” time on Sunday evening. Monday was filled with a Big Breakfast followed by Brown Bag lunch. We ended the day with the usual Low Country Boil put on by none other than our very own, Gayle Ross and Johnny Cole. Tuesday morning was filled with Ron Anderson updating Georgia Code issues followed by a Golf outing and ladies lunch. Herschel treated all of us with his famous homemade Peach ice cream. Wednesday was the last day of the conference and it was filled with education all day. The men were treated to a fantastic lunch provided by Georgia Power. Our Awards banquet and auction ended the night. Jennifer Hester, daughter of Tracy Hester received our scholarship for 2011. Tracy Hester was awarded The Georgian Award and Ron Anderson received the Booster of the Year Award (which he deserved). Recognition was given to Andrea Lanier Papageorge with AGL and Darrell Howell with Georgia Power for their continued support of GSIA. Gold awards were presented to Darrell Howell’s Golf Team who won first place, closest to pin was awarded to Chip Pearson with Evans Company. Wayne Jarvins with Sunbelt Marketing was the longest drive winner. Mike Cheeks, President, Thomas Harper, lst VP, Lonnie Abercrombie, 2nd VP, Tracy Hester 3rd VP, Herschel Dinning Executive Director.
