25th Anniversary
Zurn Plumbing Service, Inc. in Chamblee, GA is celebrating it’s 25th year of business. This family owned and operated company continues to thrive on serving their customers with high service standards and the latest plumbing technology. In 1985 the Zurns took steps to follow Ted and Wendy’s long-term goal of starting their own plumbing business. They opened with a single truck and taking calls out of their home office. The business has grown to employ 16 people, and the company manages an office and warehouse space to house inventory and equipment . Ted is a third generation master plumber and managed a full service plumbing company for 10 years prior to starting Zurn Plumbing. He attended Penn State University and served in the military during the Vietnam War. Ted has served on the board of directors for the Plumbing Mechanical Association for many years and also as president in 2007 and 2008. Ted currently serves as legislative chairman for the PMA and represents our industry here in Georgia. The second generation of Zurns
are very active in the business as well. Matt Zurn is the general manager, and he brings a degree in Business Management and also holds a master plumbers license for the state of Georgia. His sister, Lisa Burns, completed her degree in Medical Technolgy and re joined the business part-time in the office after starting her own family. The Zurns hire eager and professional people who want to learn a profitable trade and be successful. The technicians at Zurn must complete an 18-month certification course through the National Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association for service and repair work. In addition to on the job training, Ted has weekly classes in-house on new products and skills. The Zurns have trained their technicians on new technology such as tankless water heaters and leak defense systems to appeal to their customers in the metro Atlanta area. They have also contributed their time and expertise to projects for the Veterans Empowerment Organization and Family Promise of Gwinnett County. As they move into the next generation of business, their mission statement will continue to be their guide for being a successful business, “ Zurn Plumbing Service strives to build a long term relationship with its customers as well as its employees. We want to provide our customers with the highest quality of workmanship at a fair and reasonable price.”
