In 1986 he started working at McKee-Nix covering Georgia territories both North and South, until 1998 when he was transferred to Nashville to open an office covering West Tennessee for McKee-Nix. When World War II started, AB&I changed its focus and began making submarine net weights and other iron products to assist the war effort. After WWII, AB&I began making iron pipe to meet the demands of the housing boom of the late 1940s and early 1950s. Cast iron pipe and fittings remain the foundry's main product line, and AB&I has grown into a major nationwide manufacturer. READ MORE

PHCC and The Trades "Junior/Senior Ride and Decide Program"
As everyone in our industry knows, the construction trades are suffering daily from the lack of skilled workers. At the current attrition rate, when the next two generations of tradesmen/women retire in 40 years there will be virtually no one to train. We already feel the effects of this lack in our business and can only imagine how it will affect the consumer in years to come. What are we going to do about this pressing issue? Last summer, Ty Killen, a 16 year old student from William Blount High School in Maryville worked for 5 weeks for Pioneer Heating and Air in Knoxville. Ty rode along with service, maintenance and installation departments and assisted Pioneer employees with their jobs. The student enjoyed the program so much that he asked a few of his friends if they would like to join him next summer and ride along to decide if the field was right for them. Gordy Noe, President of Pioneer Heating and Air has participated in various work based learning programs in the past but realized he needed to reach potential employees earlier and expose them to the field. Having Ty work for him gave him the idea to create a "Ride and Decide" program for all students in the area to try the trades and see if the fields were a fit for their futures. READ MORE
